Memory Care at the Lodges Hosts Health Fair June 6th

On Thursday, June 6th, 2019 from 9:00 am through 2:00pm Memory Care at the Lodges (formerly Roolan) are sponsoring their 2nd Annual Health Fair at the Lacey Community Center, 6729 Pacific Avenue in Lacey.  This year’s theme is “Protect Your Health & Wealth”, with speakers and representatives from the Office of the Secretary of State, Attorney General’s Office and the Federal Trade Commission (Northwest Office).

Doors will open at 9:00 am affording attendees the opportunity to peruse the multitude of vendor tables around the venue.  The first presentation is a “break out” session with Providence Hospice on “Five Wishes”:  whether you’ve arranged for an Advance Directive or have a POLST form completed, the Five Wishes is a very comprehensive workbook approach to ensuring every one of an individual’s wishes at the end of their life are implemented.

At 10:00 am the first Keynote Speaker, Teresa Glidden of the Office of the Secretary of State, will share with those in attendance very important information to prevent being taken in by Charitable Scams, introducing us to the “GIVE SMART” program, part of Consumer Protection Washington.  After a break, a second break out class follows at 11:00 am with Advanced Health Care on “Home Health vs. Home Care – What’s the Difference”?

Elena Huizar of the Attorney General’s Office speaks at 11:45 covering the services available to seniors while educating the audience on what they can do to protect themselves from fraud!  The final breakout session at 12:30 pm will be a legal discussion with Heidi Magaro of Lifetime Legal on how an attorney may help you protect your identity.

After a short break, the day will wrap up with Chuck Harwood of the Federal Trade Commission, NW Office, on Identity Theft, Robo Calls, Mail Scams and more.

Throughout the event there will be lots of time to visit the more than 30 businesses present, to learn about all sorts of free resources offered in our community.  Complimentary food and beverages will be available all day with several raffle prize drawings being awarded by many of those businesses present!    Come join us on June 6th at the Lacey Community Center for a fun-filled, educational day!
